Artist, author, teacher, and Golden Paints representative Tesia Blackburn will be the honored speaker at the Friday September 5th Pinole Artisan meeting, at the United Methodist Church, 2000 San Pablo Ave., Pinole. The meeting begins at 7 pm, Tesia’s lecture will start around 7:30. All are welcome, the lecture and parking are free (and pssst… free goodies!)
Tesia has been a working artist for over 25 years. She received her BFA from the Academy of Art in 1984, studied lithography at the San Francisco Art Institute in 1990 and received her Master’s of Art in 1992 at John F. Kennedy University. Visit her website for a list of her workshops and classes and to check out her wonderful artwork. And Tesia has a new book out! Take a look inside the book, Acrylic Painting With Passion, at Amazon.
Tesia has spoken at Pinole Artisan meetings before, and her events are always a complete delight! Her lecture packs in a ton of valuable information about acrylics, from the basics through the many new possibilities with Golden’s amazing variety of products. You’ll learn about mineral and modern pigments and how they relate to color mixing, glazing and the creation of fabulous new colors. Tesia will discuss the unique properties of Fluids, Heavy Body, and the OPEN acrylics; talk about Interference and Iridescent paints for unusual effects; let us know about the many Golden Paint gels and mediums and how they can change texture, saturation and intensity of color, and how to use them for sculptural effects and more. She’ll also show us Golden’s Grounds, which you can use to prepare surfaces for painting, drawing, pastel, digital printing and mixed media, and will introduce us to some exciting new products, including QoR, the new watercolor.
Tesia’s lecture includes an array of examples of the materials put to use, and will inspire us to explore the extensive potential of acrylic painting (and more), and she also provides a free goodie bag of paints and helpful literature!
