I’m excited to announce that Karen LeGault will be the guest artist at the February 6th, 2015 Pinole Artisan general meeting.
Karen began drawing and painting in 1967, and has been painting professionally since 1993. After completing her first major body of award-winning oil and watercolor paintings by age 20, Karen spent many years exploring and experimenting in varied areas, including fabric design, photography, video and graphics.
Karen began teaching drawing and painting classes in North and East Bay community centers in 1993, and taught at the Berkeley Botanical Garden from 1993 to 2002. Having studied, practiced and taught Tai Chi Chuan and other spiritual disciplines since 1981, Karen has a special interest in combining Eastern and Western concepts and techniques. Her work is in hundreds of private collections.
You can see more of Karen’s work on her website and her blog. She posts information about her shows on her Facebook page. Karen’s artist statement beautifully expresses her passion about her work: “I love to work from the world around me, to immerse myself in natural surroundings, to engage with a single flower or plant, to place myself in a bowl of fruit or walk like an ant or fly like a bird or bee among objects on a table, to feel the swimming through a cool substantial water. It is physical. I need to feel and smell the places I engage with. My brush feels the subjects into the paintings.”
Karen will be having an Open Studio at her home studio, 2512 13th Ave. Oakland, from noon to 4 or by appointment, on January 24 & 25, 2015. For more information, contact Karen at email@example.com
Pinole Artisan meetings are held the first Friday of every month at the Pinole United Methodist Church, 2000 San Pablo Avenue. Meetings begin at 7 p.m. All are welcome! Questions? Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
